Gauff fends off Boulter to reach quarter-finals in Beijing, could play Osaka next

American Coco Gauff, the No 4 seed, defeated No 26 seed Katie Boulter 7-5, 6-2 to reach the last 16 of the China Open at the National Tennis Center in Beijing on Sunday afternoon.
Gauff, ranked No 6, will face the winner of the match between American Katie Volynets and Japanese Naomi Osaka next.
The 20-year-old American won against Frenchwoman Clara Burel (7-5, 6-3) in the previous round of the Beijing tournament.
In the previous round of the Beijing tournament, Boulter, ranked No 34, beat American Taylor Townsend (6-4, 6-4).
