China Open: Andreeva books spot in last 16
Mirra Andreeva edged out Donna Vekic 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Monday night. She’ll face Pole Magda Linette, the No 31 seed, in the next round
Russian Mirra Andreeva, the No 17 seed, edged out Croat Donna Vekic, the No 16 seed, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the last 16 of the China Open at the National Tennis Center in Beijing on Monday night.
Andreeva, ranked No 22, will face Pole Magda Linette, the No 31 seed, next.
The 17-year-old Russian won against Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-1) in the previous round of the Beijing tournament.
In the second round of the Beijing tournament, Vekic, ranked No 20, edged out Swiss Viktorija Golubic (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4).
