Spaniard Cristina Bucsa moved into the last four of the Chicago Women’s Open by edging out Swede Rebecca Peterson 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday.
Bucsa, ranked No 70, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Rebeka Masarova, the No 6 seed, and American Claire Liu next.
In the previous rounds, the Spaniard beat American wildcard Kolie Allen (6-0, 6-2) and American wildcard Varvara Lepchenko (W/O).
Peterson, ranked No 92, won against Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 7 seed (6-1, 6-4) and Estonian Kaia Kanepi (6-4, 1-6, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
