Swede Rebecca Peterson, the No 5 seed, won against Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 6-2, 7-6 (4) to move into the last 16 of the Chennai Open on Monday evening.
Peterson, ranked No 95, will face Czech Linda Fruhvirtova next.
