Canadian Rebecca Marino, the No 7 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Chennai Open by beating Pole Katarzyna Kawa 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday evening.
Marino, ranked No 90, will face the winner of the match between Pole Magda Linette, the No 3 seed, and Russian Oksana Selekhmeteva next.
In the previous round, the Canadian won against Russian Anna Blinkova (7-5, 6-2).
Kawa, ranked No 166, won against Australian Astra Sharma (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
