Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard moved into the last eight of the Chennai Open by defeating Indian wild card Karman Thandi 6-2, 7-6 (2) on Wednesday.
Eugenie Bouchard will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Nadia Podoroska and German Tatjana Maria, the No 4 seed, next.
In the previous round, the Canadian won against Swiss Joanne Zuger (7-6 (4), 6-2).
It is Bouchard’s third singles win so far this year as she continues her lengthy comeback from injury.
Thandi, ranked No 359, won against Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet, the No 8 seed (4-6, 6-4, 6-3) in the previous round.
