Charleston Open: Pegula into last 16

American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, defeated Russian Anna Blinkova 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the last 16 of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Wednesday evening.

Pegula, ranked No 3, will play the winner of the match between American wildcard Sofia Kenin and Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 15 seed, next.

Blinkova, ranked No 63, won against Hungarian Anna Bondar (7-6 (7), 6-2) in the previous round of the Charleston tournament.
