American Madison Keys, the No 9 seed, reached the last eight of the Charleston Open by beating Pole Magda Linette, the No 8 seed, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday.
Keys, ranked No 22, will face Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 3 seed, next.
Keys holds an 8-1 edge over Kasatkina in their head-to-head meetings.
Ahead of her victory, the American won against wildcard Emma Navarro (6-4, 6-3) and qualifier Hailey Baptiste (6-1, 6-2).
Linette, ranked No 19, edged out Russian Varvara Gracheva (6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-4) in the previous round of the tournament.
