Russian Anna Kalinskaya defeated Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 11 seed, 7-6 (6), 6-4 to reach the second round of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Monday.
Kalinskaya, ranked No 70, will play Frenchwoman Alize Cornet next.
