Varvara Gracheva beat Clervie Ngounoue 6-2, 6-1 on Monday night and will face No 11 seed Elise Mertens in the next round

French qualifier Varvara Gracheva reached the second round of the Charleston Open by beating American wildcard Clervie Ngounoue 6-2, 6-1 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Monday.
Gracheva, ranked No 100, will face No 11 seed Elise Mertens next.
