Czech Marie Bouzkova, the No 16 seed, went down to Spaniard Cristina Bucsa 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-1in the first round of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Bucsa, ranked No 81, will face Bernarda Pera next.
