Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 4 seed and defending champion, won against Canadian qualifier Katherine Sebov 6-0, 6-3 to reach the last 16 of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Bencic, ranked No 11, will face American Shelby Rogers next.
Sebov, ranked No 148, beat American Lauren Davis (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Charleston tournament while Bencic received a first round bye.
