Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 4 seed and defending champion, moved into the last eight of the Charleston Open by beating hometown favourite Shelby Rogers 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday.
Bencic, ranked No 11 and a two-time titlist on the tour this year, scored her 18th win of the season. She will play Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 7 seed, next.

Rogers, ranked No 44, won against No 13 seed Danielle Collins (6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-1) and Catherine McNally (6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-1) earlier in the tournament.
