American qualifier Hailey Baptiste advanced to the second round of the Charleston Open by beating Chinese Xiyu Wang 6-3, 6-3 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Baptiste, ranked No 275 in the world, will face No 9 seed Madison Keys next. This is the third time in a row that the American has won her first round match in Charleston.
