Charleston Open: Badosa through to last eight, sets up Pegula clash

Spaniard Paula Badosa, the No 12 seed, defeated Russian Diana Shnaider 6-1, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday.
Badosa, ranked No 33, will face American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Spaniard won against Egyptian Mayar Sherif (6-3, 6-1) and Canadian Leylah Fernandez (7-5, 7-6 (6)).
Shnaider, ranked No 95, beat American Alycia Parks (6-4, 6-3) and No 5 seed Veronika Kudermetova (6-4, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Charleston tournament.
