Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, the No 4 seed, advanced to the final of the Charleston Open 125 by winning against Belgian Greet Minnen 7-6 (4), 6-1 at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Friday evening.
Cocciaretto, ranked No 60, will play the winner of the match between Chinese Yafan Wang, the No 6 seed, and Russian Diana Shnaider, the No 7 seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the Italian defeated Australian Arina Rodionova (6-3, 6-2), Spanish qualifier Marina Bassols Ribera (6-0, 6-3) and American qualifier Mccartney Kessler (7-5, 6-3).
Minnen, ranked No 81, beat German Tamara Korpatsch, the No 8 seed (6-2, 6-4), Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-1, 6-2) and Spaniard Rebeka Masarova (7-6 (2), 3-6, 6-3) in the previous rounds of the Charleston 125 tournament.
