Emina Bektas beat wildcard Maria Mateas 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 to reach the second round of the Charleston Open 125 at the Family Circle Tennis Center.
Bektas, ranked No 92, will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Rebeka Masarova and Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the second seed, next.
