Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 7 seed, reached the last eight of the Catalonia Open by defeating Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric 6-0, 1-6, 6-1 on Thursday.
Osorio, ranked No 63, will play Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 4 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Colombian benefited from the abandonment of Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund (4-1) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Ciric Bagaric, ranked No 202, won against Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin (6-4, 6-4).
