Spanish wildcard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales reached the quarter-finals of the Catalonia Open when Serb Dejana Radanovic retired on Thursday.
Maristany Zuleta De Reales, ranked No 290, led 6-5 when Radanovic, ranked No 225, pulled out on Thursday.
The Spaniard will face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the No 3 seed, next.
In the previous round, Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales won against Japanese Nao Hibino (6-4, 1-6, 6-1).
The Serb edged out Chinese Xiyu Wang, the No 5 seed (1-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round.
