Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 4 seed, beat Croat Lea Boskovic 6-3, 6-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Catalonia Open on Thursday.
Frech, ranked No 51, will face the winner of the match between Colombian Camila Osorio, the No 7 seed, and Croat Lucija Ciric Bagaric next.
In the previous round, the Pole won against Greek qualifier Despina Papamichail (6-2, 6-4).
Boskovic, ranked No 216, won against qualifier Anna Siskova (6-4, 6-1) during the 32.
