Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the second seed, reached the semi-finals of the Catalonia Open by defeating American Catherine McNally, the No 7 seed, 6-2, 6-2 on Friday.
Cirstea, ranked No 44, will play the winner of the match between Colombian Camila Osorio and American Lauren Davis, the No 3 seed, next.
The 33-year-old Romanian won against Spanish wildcard Aliona Bolsova (7-5, 6-0) and Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (7-5, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
Earlier in the tournament, McNally, ranked No 69, beat Spanish wildcard Irene Burillo Escorihuela (6-4, 6-3) and Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (1-6, 6-4, 6-1).
