Argentinian Solana Sierra, the No 7 seed, advanced to the last eight of the Cancun Tennis Open by beating Dutchwoman Anouk Koevermans 7-5, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Sierra, ranked No 155, will play Australian Maya Joint, the No 3 seed, next.
The 20-year-old Argentinian won against Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (6-0, 6-3) in the previous round.
In the 32, Koevermans, ranked No 193, edged out Argentinian lucky loser Julia Riera (1-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5).
