Cancun Tennis Open: Jones books spot in last 4
Francesca Jones defeated Iryna Shymanovich 6-1, 6-0 on Thursday night. She’ll play the winner of the match between Colombian Emiliana Arango and French lucky loser Selena Janicijevic in the next round
No 8 seed Francesca Jones advanced to the last 4 of the Cancun Tennis Open by defeating Belarusian Iryna Shymanovich 6-1, 6-0 on Thursday night.
Jones, ranked No 146, will play the winner of the match between Colombian Emiliana Arango and French lucky loser Selena Janicijevic next.
Francesca Jones won against Spaniard Aliona Bolsova (7-5, 6-4) and American Sachia Vickery (6-3, 6-3) earlier in the tournament.
In the previous rounds, Shymanovich, ranked No 234, won against German Tatjana Maria, the top seed (6-2, 6-2) and edged out Australian Taylah Preston (6-4, 1-6, 7-5).
