Canberra Open: Waltert reaches last eight
Simona Waltert beat Elsa Jacquemot 6-1, 6-4 on Wednesday and will play Chinese Wei Sijia in the next round

Swiss qualifier Simona Waltert moved into the last eight of the Canberra Open by defeating French qualifier Elsa Jacquemot 6-1, 6-4 at the Canberra Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Waltert, ranked No 174, will play Chinese Wei Sijia next.
Ahead of her victory, the Swiss won against Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the No 4 seed (6-2, 6-1).
Jacquemot, ranked No 159, beat Australian wildcard Emerson Jones (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Canberra tournament.
