Canberra Open: Top seed Parrizas Diaz into semi-finals
The Spaniard won against Oksana Selekhmeteva 6-3, 6-3 in the second round on Wednesday
Spain’s Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the top seed, reached the last four of the Canberra Open by beating Russian qualifier Oksana Selekhmeteva 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Parrizas Diaz, ranked No 91, will play the winner of the match between Serb Nina Stojanovic and Japanese Aoi Ito, the No 7 seed, next at the Canberra Tennis Centre.
Ahead of her win today, the 33-year-old Spaniard edged out Croat Jana Fett (3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5)) and won against Japanese qualifier Sara Saito (6-2, 6-4).
Selekhmeteva, ranked No 176, edged out Croat Petra Martic, the No 5 seed (6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (4)) and Hungarian Dalma Galfi (6-3, 2-6, 7-5) earlier in the week.
