Australian wildcard Taylah Preston reached the quarter-finals of the Canberra Open by beating Canadian Marina Stakusic, the No 6 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 at the Canberra Tennis Centre on Wednesday.

Preston, ranked No 170, will face the winner of the match between Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala and Dutchwoman Arianne Hartono next.

Ahead of her victory, the 19-year-old Australian won against qualifier Ipek Oz (6-3, 7-6 (4)).

Stakusic, ranked No 125, defeated Croat Antonia Ruzic (0-6, 7-6 (1), 6-1) in the previous round of the Canberra tournament.
