Canberra Open: Ito beats Wei to claim title
Ito wins 6-4, 6-3 to win the WTA $125K title

Japan’s Aoi Ito, the No 7 seed, beat Chinese Sijia Wei 6-4, 6-3 to lift the Canberra Open trophy on Saturday.
The unorthodox Japanese player did not drop a set during her five wins this week and is projected to break into the top 110 in the world rankings next week.
Ahead of her win today, Ito, ranked No 126, defeated Russian Maria Timofeeva (6-4, 7-5), Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-1, 6-2), Serb Nina Stojanovic (6-2, 7-6 (6)) and Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the top seed (6-2, 6-2) at the Canberra Tennis Centre
Wei, ranked No 134, defeated Australian wildcard Lizette Cabrera (6-3, 6-4), Thai Mananchaya Sawangkaew, the No 8 seed (6-3, 6-2), Swiss qualifier Simona Waltert (6-1, 6-4) and Filipino qualifier Alexandra Eala (7-5, 6-2) earlier in the week.
