Canberra Open: Ito advances to last eight
Aoi Ito defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1, 6-2 on Wednesday and will play the winner of the match between Petra Hule and Nina Stojanovic next
Japanese Aoi Ito, the No 7 seed, defeated Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-1, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Canberra Open at the Canberra Tennis Centre on Wednesday.
Ito, ranked No 126, will play the winner of the match between Australian wildcard Petra Hule and Serb Nina Stojanovic next.
Ahead of her victory, the 20-year-old Japanese won against Russian Maria Timofeeva (6-4, 7-5).
Sasnovich, ranked No 143, beat Swiss Jil Teichmann (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) in the previous round of the Canberra tournament.
