Kasatkina tops Mertens to reach 2nd round in Montreal
The 10th seed will face the winner of the match between Russian Anna Blinkova and Chinese Shuai Zhang in the next round
Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 10 seed, reached the second round of the Canadian Open by winning against Belgian Elise Mertens 6-4, 6-2 at Stade IGA in Montreal on Tuesday.
Kasatkina, ranked No 14, will face the winner of the match between Russian Anna Blinkova and Chinese Shuai Zhang next.
