Canadian Open: Kasatkina sees off Bouzkova in straight sets to book quarter-final berth
Daria Kasatkina won against Marie Bouzkova 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday night and will play the winner of the match between American Sloane Stephens and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 3 seed, in the next round
Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 10 seed, defeated Marie Bouzkova 6-3, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Canadian Open at Stade IGA in Montreal on Thursday night.
Kasatkina, ranked No 14, will face the winner of the match between American Sloane Stephens and Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the No 3 seed, next.
The Russian won against Belgian Elise Mertens (6-4, 6-2) and Anna Blinkova (6-2, 7-5) ahead of her victory over Bouzkova.
Earlier in the tournament, Bouzkova, ranked No 37, beat American qualifier Kayla Day (7-6 (1), 6-3) and Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 5 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-2).
