Montreal: Haddad Maia defeats Frech in first round
The Brazilian will face Canadian wildcard Leylah Fernandez in the next round

Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 11 seed, reached the second round of the Canadian Open by defeating Pole lucky loser Magdalena Frech 6-4, 6-2 at Stade IGA in Montreal on Tuesday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 12, will face fellow left-hander and wildcard Leylah Fernandez next.
