Surging Gauff blasts past Boulter to reach sweet 16 in Montreal
Coco Gauff beat Katie Boulter 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday evening. She’ll face the winner of the match between No 9 seed Marketa Vondrousova and Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki in the next round
Sixth-seeded Coco Gauff, the champion at the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington D.C over the weekend, continued her fine form by notching a 6-2 6-2 takedown of Great Britain’s Katie Boulter on Wednesday in Montreal.
Gauff, ranked No 7, will play the winner of the match between No 9 seed Marketa Vondrousova and Dane wildcard Caroline Wozniacki next.
The 19-year-old American has now won 41 of her last two matches against players ranked outside of the top 50, with her only such loss coming to Sofia Kenin at Wimbledon this year.

Boulter, ranked No 72, won against Canadian wildcard Rebecca Marino (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Rogers Cup.
