Slovak Veronika Erjavec moved into the quarter-finals of the Cali Open when Francesca Jones retired on Wednesday evening.
Erjavec, ranked No 199, led 7-6 (3), 5-0 when Jones, ranked No 163, pulled out on Wednesday evening.
The Slovak will play Argentinian Jazmin Ortenzi next.
Veronika Erjavec won against Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet, the No 4 seed (6-2, 6-2) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Francesca Jones defeated Romanian Miriam Bulgaru (6-4, 7-6 (3)).
