Serb Aleksandra Krunic advanced to the final of the Hungarian Grand Prix by beating Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 3 seed, 6-2, 6-2 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Saturday.
Krunic, ranked No 105, will face the winner of the match between American qualifier Bernarda Pera and Hungarian Anna Bondar, the No 9 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Hungarian Open, the Serb won against German Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-4), Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 6 seed (6-1, 6-0) and Chinese Xiyu Wang (6-0, 6-1).
Putintseva, ranked No 32, won against Slovak Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova (6-4, 6-1), Brazilian lucky loser Laura Pigossi (4-6, 6-1, 6-2) and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (6-0, 2-0 ret.) earlier in the tournament.
