Brisbane Open: Potapova makes quarter-finals; to meet Rybakina

No 11 seed Anastasia Potapova moved into the quarter-finals of the WTA Brisbane International with an upset win over No 6 seed Veronika Kudermetova 7-5, 6-7 (7), 6-4 at the Queensland Tennis Center on Thursday.
Potapova, ranked No 28, will face Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the second seed, next with a semi-final spot on the line.
Ahead of her win today, Potapova had defeated Australian wildcard Daria Saville (6-4, 3-6, 6-4). Kudermetova, ranked No 16, defeated Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-2, 6-3) earlier in the week.
