WTA Brisbane: Noskova ends Andreeva’s run, to meet Rybakina in semis
Linda Noskova won against Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 6-3 in the Brisbane quarter-finals
Czech teen Linda Noskova reached the last four of the WTA Brisbane Open by defeating 16-year-old Russian Mirra Andreeva 7-5, 6-3 at the Queensland Tennis Center on Friday.
Noskova, aged 19 and ranked No 40 in the world, will play Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her win today, Noskova beat Hungarian qualifier Timea Babos (5-7, 7-6 (8), 7-6 (2)), Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 10 seed (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) and Argentinian qualifier Julia Riera (6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
Earlier in the week, the 16-year-old Andreeva had scored wins over against No 4 seed Liudmila Samsonova (6-2, 6-1), Australian wildcard Arina Rodionova (6-1, 6-1) and Diana Shnaider (6-2, 6-3).
