Sabalenka makes last 16 at Brisbane Open

Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, defeated Mexican Renata Zarazua 6-4, 6-0 to reach the last 16 of the Brisbane Open at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Tuesday.

Sabalenka fired on all cylinders after a competitive first set as she dished out a bagel in the second, winning 73 percent on the first serve return points and 67 percent on the second. In total, she broke Zarazua five times and hit five aces.

Sabalenka, ranked No 1, will play Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 15 seed, next.

Zarazua, ranked No 75, won against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-0, 6-3) in the previous round of the Brisbane tournament.
