Brisbane Open: Krueger upends Kalinskaya to reach last 16
Ashlyn Krueger won against Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 6-3 on Tuesday and will play the winner of the match between Suzan Lamens and Magdalena Frech next
American Ashlyn Krueger reached the last 16 of the Brisbane Open by winning against Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-3 at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Krueger finished the match in 70 minutes, hitting six aces and breaking Kalinskaya’s serve thrice.
Krueger, ranked No 64, will face the winner of the match between Dutchwoman Suzan Lamens and Pole Magdalena Frech, the No 11 seed, next.
The 20-year-old American beat Japanese Moyuka Uchijima (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
