Bogota Open: Stearns reaches last eight, plays Zidansek next
Peyton Stearns defeated Elina Avanesyan 6-4, 6-1 on Thursday. She’ll face Slovenian Tamara Zidansek in the next round
American Peyton Stearns won against Russian Elina Avanesyan 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last eight of the Bogota Open at the Country Club Bogota on Thursday.
Stearns, ranked No 116, will play Slovenian Tamara Zidansek next.
The 21-year-old American beat Spanish qualifier Rosa Vicens Mas (6-3, 6-1) in the previous round of the Colombia Open.
During the first round of the Colombia Open, Avanesyan, ranked No 150, defeated Italian Sara Errani, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-0).
