Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 7 seed, won against Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango 6-4, 6-3 to reach the last 8 of the Bogota Open at the Country Club Bogota on Thursday.
Sorribes Tormo, ranked No 106, will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 4 seed, next.
The Spaniard defeated Aliona Bolsova (6-0, 6-4) in the previous round of the Colombia Open while Arango, ranked No 242, benefited from the retirement of French qualifier Harmony Tan (7-5, 3-1).
