Tatjana Maria tops Stearns at Bogota for third career title

German Tatjana Maria, the second seed, lifted the Bogota Open trophy by edging out American Peyton Stearns 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 at the Country Club Bogota on Sunday evening.
The 35-year-old German completes a successful title defense for the first time in her career, and becomes the fourth woman to own multiple titles in Bogota.
Maria improves to 3-0 lifetime in WTA finals – she has now won 12 consecutive matches at Bogota dating back to the beginning of her run to the title from qualifying in 2022.
In the previous rounds of the Colombia Open, Maria, ranked No 66, defeated American Katrina Scott (6-1, 6-4), Brazilian qualifier Carolina M. Alves (6-2, 6-4), Italian qualifier Nuria Brancaccio (6-3, 6-2) and Francesca Jones (6-3, 6-4).
Stearns, ranked No 116, beat Spanish qualifier Rosa Vicens Mas (6-3, 6-1), Russian Elina Avanesyan (6-4, 6-1), Slovenian Tamara Zidansek (6-3, 2-6, 6-2) and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No 4 seed (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
