Bogota Open: Francesca Jones advances to last eight

Francesca Jones reached the last eight of the Bogota Open by defeating Canadian Carol Zhao 6-2, 6-1 at the Country Club Bogota on Wednesday.

Francesca Jones will face the winner of the match between Brazilian Laura Pigossi, the No 6 seed, and Serb qualifier Natalija Stevanovic next.

Francesca Jones won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the No 3 seed (7-6 (3), 6-1) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Colombia Open, Zhao, ranked No 174, edged out Argentinian Maria Lourdes Carle (4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6)).
