Sweden’s Mirjam Bjorklund advanced to the second round of the Bogota Open by edging out Belgian Elise Mertens, the top seed, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (3) at the Country Club Bogota on Tuesday.
Bjorklund, ranked No 133, will face Slovenian Tamara Zidansek next.
