Australian Ajla Tomljanovic edged out Chinese Lin Zhu 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Open at Edgbaston Priory Club on Wednesday.
Tomljanovic, ranked No 190, will play the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 6 seed, and Swiss qualifier Viktorija Golubic next.
The Australian beat Russian Anna Blinkova (6-2, 6-1) in the previous round of the Birmingham tournament.
In the previous round of the Birmingham tournament, Zhu, ranked No 54, won against Romanian Sorana Cirstea, the No 3 seed (7-6 (2), 6-2).
