Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 7 seed, won against Italian Lucia Bronzetti 6-3, 7-5 to move into the last eight of the Birmingham Open at Edgbaston Priory Club on Wednesday evening.
Potapova, ranked No 36, will play the winner of the match between wildcard Harriet Dart and second seed Barbora Krejcikova next.
Ahead of her victory, the Russian defeated qualifier Elina Avanesyan (6-4, 6-4).
Bronzetti, ranked No 67, edged out Pole Magdalena Frech (2-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Birmingham tournament.
