Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 6 seed, won against Swiss qualifier Viktorija Golubic 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Birmingham Open at Edgbaston Priory Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Fernandez, ranked No 33, will play Australian Ajla Tomljanovic next.
In the previous round of the Birmingham tournament, the 21-year-old Canadian defeated Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-1, 6-1).
Golubic, ranked No 78, won against Colombian qualifier Camila Osorio (6-4, 1-6, 6-3) in the 32 of the Birmingham tournament.
