Birmingham Classic: Qualifier Bektas makes last 16

American qualifier Emina Bektas reached the last 16 of the Birmingham Classic by beating Chinese Shuai Zhang, the No 7 seed, 6-4, 6-3 at Edgbaston Priory Club on Wednesday.
Bektas, ranked No 150, will face the winner of the match between Canadian lucky loser Rebecca Marino and Chinese qualifier Xiyu Wang next.
