Croat Donna Vekic moved into the final of the Berlin Open by winning against Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 7-6 (8) at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Saturday afternoon.
Vekic, ranked No 23, will face the winner of the match between Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova and Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 7 seed, next.

Earlier in the tournament, the Croat defeated Russian Varvara Gracheva (6-3, 6-2), Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the second seed (6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-4) and Russian lucky loser Elina Avanesyan (6-2, 7-6).
Sakkari, ranked No 8, won against Frenchwoman Alize Cornet (6-4, 6-2), Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-2, 6-1) and Czech wildcard Marketa Vondrousova (7-6 (7), 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Berlin tournament.
