Qualifier Zeynep Sonmez advanced to the last 16 of the Berlin Open by winning against Dutch lucky loser Arantxa Rus 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Monday.
Sonmez, ranked No 157, will face the winner of the match between Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 7 seed, and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka next.
