Qualifier Katerina Siniakova reached the quarter-finals of the Berlin Open by winning against Chinese Qinwen Zheng, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 6-4 at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Thursday afternoon.

Siniakova, ranked No 30, will play the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula, the No 4 seed, and Croat wildcard Donna Vekic next.

Katerina Siniakova defeated American Emma Navarro (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Berlin tournament.

In the previous round of the Berlin tournament, Zheng, ranked No 8, won against Japanese wildcard Naomi Osaka (6-4, 3-6, 6-3).
